Twenty-five (the clues)

There are still six songs un-guessed, so as a little encouragement here are the names of the artists remaining:

Brian Eno (the thought expresses the title)
Earl Zinger (Sarf Lunnun, innit?)
Iggy Pop (in collaboration with David Bowie)
Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, aka Led Zeppelin
Material (or Bill Laswell, a modest hit on the funk charts 23 years ago)
Steely Dan (a good song from a great, famous album)

I'll give you another day, then post the remaining answers.

I know some of the American oldies - 14 - Steelie Dan, Ruby Baby (but isn't the title almost in the first line?)

Yeah, it's close, but I decided to let it through.

Even with the clues, I'm quite stumped.
