A week later
The tulips have lasted a week, to my pleasure and surprise. I guess there is a relation between the price and the quality (these were expensive), or perhaps it was just the luck of the draw.
I shall continue/revive the habit of having flowers on my desk at home, "just for nice" as my grandmother used to say.

Is that eight tulips there? They are beautiful, but as a rule I was told in the flower shop near Ilbesheim that you're supposed to arrange a bouquet of uneven numbers.
Here back in Canada we had no good roses for Valentines day because we get most of them from Ecuador, and this year a storm ruined the lot of them. Still, if you had the money, you could find the flowers.
The tulips are very pretty. I really like what your grandmother said. I'll have to remember the "just for nice."
