Storm

Green clouds before a hailstorm.

Here's a helpful tip for free: should you ever see a green cloud, immediately run like hell to the nearest place of shelter, because a monster of a storm is about to begin.

This was taken moments before a hailstorm which filled the street with thumbnail-sized stones, laying in drifts across the pavement like snow. There was thunder and lightning and a fair old amount of rain too. The wind seemed to come from all directions at once: hailstones were crashing against the living-room (west) and kitchen windows (north) and piling up on the balcony (east).

It was pretty exciting. (Better than working, anyway.)

Yikes! Green in the sky is bad. Many around here see it as a sign that a tornado is brewing. I know that when I see green up above, I tend to find shelter quickly.

Hail on the windows! As long as they don't break, sounds like fun from the inside.

Bottle green sky means tornados to me. Not that I am always wise enough to hide, but at least I know I am taking a risk by not doing so.

We saw aqua clouds once when there was a tornado not too far away. It was a hot, humid day then suddenly the wind picked up and it started to come down in torrents. The thunder cracked and it was close enough that you could smell the burnt ozone.
