On not winning

Exactly two months ago, I wrote:
I think that this [architectural competition entry] will not win: the spark is missing. There is no bright idea, no cliffhanger, no unique sales point. It's just another perfectly adequate building, yawn.

We heard the results today: thrown out in the second round. No prize, not even a pat on the head.

Much as I enjoy saying "I told you so", I would rather not have been right.

That's too bad. It would have been nice if you could have won.

Good to know your judgement is sound though, I guess.

Well, the design had a cool name anyway. Sorry you didn't win, but glad someone else wasn't overly impressed over something you could never be.

Yes, I could have used the money :-)

OTOH winning with a project that one finds less-than-worthy is very disspiriting, and I should be glad that it didn't come to that.

It's cliche, but better luck next year. Perhaps your recent experience at Damascus will reignite your creative spirit.

In the long run, it's better that you and your intuition were in contact, I think, though I'm sorry.

In brighter news, I see that your countdown is now under a year!

Oh that's a shame! Or not, as the case may be. You know what I mean. I hope the money finds you in a better way.
