Shoot the witnesses

In her most recent article in the (UK) Guardian, Naomi Klein reponds to the US Ambassador's objection to this sentence in a previous article:

In Iraq, US forces and their Iraqi surrogates are no longer bothering to conceal attacks on civilian targets and are openly eliminating anyone - doctors, clerics, journalists - who dares to count the bodies.

The Ambassador challenged her and the Guardian to prove or withdraw the allegations. Foolish of him, to think either that there would be no proof, or that they would back down.
