Anticipation

Do you know where you will be on Tuesday September 19th, 2006 at seven in the evening?

I know where I'll be (tfu tfu tfu).

I will be in the soon-to-be-brand-new Toronto Opera House, watching the curtain go up on Das Rheingold. The tickets are booked, the deposit is paid. We're on, babes!

I'm so excited, I could burst. I shall doubtless be blogging about Wagner and the Ring Cycle every other day now.

Please say "God Willing" or "If All Goes Well" or Tfu Tfu Tfu." It makes me very nervous to read absolute personal predictions, as if you were 100% in control of the future.

Thank you, Udge. I feel less anxious now that you've observed the ritual, which I know is probably more superstition than anything else. But just in case...

I wish I could join you in Toronto; living in Israel has mitigated the pure joy I used to feel when listening to Wagner, but I can still swoon to R. Strauss, and of course G. Mahler (not to mention Verdi and Puccini).
