Consumerism
Being a meditation on today's Thought*
On the whole, all things considered, I feel that I am a net consumer of happiness: the world gives me more than I feel I am producing. This thought is vaguely unsettling.

Perhaps that is a good life, when we feel we have more than we deserve.
I have that feeling often, that I'm living beyond my spiritual means.
But, how can you measure what you give? Most of the time you might not ever know of some result.
Your blog gives me a vague sense of vicarious wellbeing, if that helps.
being happy is also a source of happiness, generally speaking. by being happy you radiate happiness into the world. you can be sure that it has an effect even if you don't see the results directly. sometimes a random stranger will smile at me and it fills me with joy.
udge! see? du hast mir heute glucklich gemacht. vielleicht, there is a small balance in der welt, und alles est klaar. besonders, happiness is not something you take away from others. it exists on it's own, like intestinal gas. you can share it, aber est ist deiner gas. that unsettling, rumbling feeling is just happiness waiting to be released silently onto the rest of the world -blame the dog.
(smiles)
thank you for the kind thoughts, my dears, which made me quite happy. And Seraphine, I shall be forever in your debt for the enlightening comparison of happiness to intestinal gas :-)
Silly.
what do you call all the loving you send out? All the support you give? All the things you create? Packages of happiness shared..that's what I call 'em. And...well...thanks.
But... That doesn't make any sense! We get from life what we put in it, so if life is giving you happiness and you are experiencing it that means you are the source of some of that happiness yourself and it reverberates and spreads. And your being alive makes us all happy, so that alone generates some powerful threads.
You want I should kick your stubborn, over-foirmatted, waspy guilt-ridden arse again?
[WORD on Seraphine, am still laughing]
