Ice cream evening

The local weather in Stuttgart is has a peculiarity: sudden drastic changes in temperature. It can be ten degrees warmer at midnight than it was at noon. After wearing a long-sleeved shirt during the day, you can find yourself at night sitting comfortably on the balcony in a T-shirt.

Today was such a day. After two grey & rainy weeks with central heating switched on, today has warmed up tremendously. I went for a walk this evening, armed with an ice cream cone from my neighbourhood parlour (hand made by genuine Italians, by golly) and found that sidewalk tables had sprouted in front of nearly every restaurant and cafe, where there were but puddles yesterday.

This weather change happens infrequently but regularly (if you follow): It is predictable that it will happen at least once each spring and autumn, but no telling when. One of these days, I will find the energy and ambition to find out what causes this phenomenon.
