Conundrum

Awake at 04:10 yet again, the returned traveller stirs the slowly heating milk and ponders:

Is this jetlag or just insomnia?

Nope, not once. Nor did I experience the acid reflux problem that plagues my nights here. Food for thought, so to speakl.

I vote for jet lag. Until I started taking Melatonin, I always went quietly insane for two weeks after returning home from a Transatlantic trip.

I don't know, but I've got insomnia and will have jet lag later this week. Neither is a pretty thing.

udge, I am going to start using a hypnosis tape at bedtime tonight and I will let you know if it improves the quality of my sleep.

In the meantime, you can check it out and even pay $20 for a downloadable MP3, which is what I've done, at http://www.rolandhypnosis.com.au/

What is German food at this point, anyway? Can't we all eat nice organic macrobiotic food and the odd Indian or Japanese meal pretty much anywhere now?

Macro... say what?

For all their concern for environmental and health-in-the-workspace issues, the Germans still eat rather unhealthily: large amounts of meat in creamy and/or spicy sauces, with a little of that green stuff to decorate the plate, washed down with plenty of alcohol. Finding vegetarian food for foreign visitors has been a real challenge.

I am not a doctor but I think the problem is more likely environmental or psychological. I ate more, spicier, richer and later in the evening while on holiday than I would dare to do here, without problems.

File under "ongoing" and watch this space for updates.
