What it's about

From William Gibson:

This isn't the election in which to make the quixotic but satisfying point that you'd really rather vote Green, or the quixotic but satisfying point that you'd really rather not have to vote for any more white men in tight blue suits at all.

This is an election in which to vote for the greater likelihood of there being more elections in the future.

Absolutely right: This is about the future of politics in America.

A vote for Bush is a vote against most of what Americans understand as "democracy": a vote against the separation of church and state; against the balance of power between President, Congress and the Judiciary; against the accountability of politicians before the citizens; against the primacy of the Constitution. It's also a vote against decency and commonsense, but those concepts are just so 20th Century.
