Green

Man, that was a storm! I had read in reports of tornadoes, that the sky turns green, but never really believed or understood it. Well, there was no tornado here yesterday (thank God) but a damned fine storm none the less, and yes, the sky turned green. The light through the clouds was the colour of seawater. Honest-to-God. Amazing; frightening.

The rain was so heavy that I couldn't see to the end of the street. This morning the streets are covered in shredded leaves, knocked down by the storm. The tree by the school lost a major branch; the city workers have already cut it into sections but not yet taken them away.

The first clear indication that the storm would be fierce, was in the motion of the clouds: The high-level cloud cover was moving at right angles to the dark and heavily laden low-level clouds; and these were themselves in roiling motion. Each individual wisp of cloud appeared to be moving at a different speed and direction to the others.

Today is relatively clear - and cold. It's a mere 20° this morning; after more than a month of mid-thirties temperatures and high humidity (and daily rainfall) this is quite welcome.

Wow! Incredible! As long as you felt safe and could marvel without worry.

This is the time of year in Florida where those storms pop up almost every day. It usually signals the hurricane season is here.

Sure enough, there are two tropical storms barreling towards the U.S.

Paradise does have a few downsides.

This morning in Tel Aviv there was a dark cloudy sky...very unusual for July. I wonder where it came from?

Thanks for visiting and you're welcome! Glad you're safe in the storms. That green sky must have been pretty strange.
